sportmax GPR alpha-10
The ultimate performance tyre for 125cc - 400cc sport bikes and supermotos
- New GPRα-10 (GPR Alpha-10) compounds have been developed for uncompromising grip and traction control on road and track.
- Lightweight cross-belt front tyre construction gives instant handling response thanks to optimum casing stiffness.
- Rear JLB construction improves high-speed stability thanks to minimal dynamic growth and therefore greater control of the contact patch.
- Reduced tread grooves increase dry grip, but thanks to clever groove design they also shift more water than GPRα-10's predecessor so safety in the wet is improved.
- In this category no other tyre comes close to the GPRα-10 for outright performance and rider control.
- PB magazine (Jan '08), Stuff of the Year awards. GPR Alpha-10 gets Best Small Bike Rubber.

Riders of mid-sized supersport bikes demand a lot from their tyres. Many use their bikes on race circuits as well as the roads and being exceptional at both disciplines was what made the Sportmax GPR 70 so popular with these hard-to-please riders. As the successor to the hugely popular GPR 70, the new Sportmax GPR Alpha-10 had to be good otherwise it was dead in the water. Well, it's not just good, it's incredible and what's truly remarkable about it is just how equally at home it is on streets and race tracks.
If a high performance tyre is what you're looking for you've found the Holy Grail, and we're not just talking about the huge grip levels available from the new tread compounds. By improving control of the contact patch, the rear tyre's JLB construction increases high-speed stability and traction. It also reduces casing stresses for improved control of excessive heat generation, which leads to more consistent grip levels and longer tread life. It's also a lighter construction than previously so thanks to the tyre's reduced unsprung mass, bikes can be flipped from side to side with greater ease.
The front tyre's cut breaker casing gives instant handling response for smooth, progressive turn-in to corners and when the bike is fully laid into the bend there's a reassuring stability that makes the machine feel planted to the road surface.
Newly developed compounds have increased grip levels, beyond even those of the GPR 70, and the redesigned tread pattern has a trick up its sleeve - even though it has reduced tread grooves for increased grip in the dry, clever use of the grooves means the GPR Alpha-10 actually shifts more water than its predecessor so riding in the rain is even safer.
Uncompromising - a word that's often overused, but not in the case of the Sportmax GPR Alpha-10. Whether it's for road or track the Sportmax GPR Alpha-10 is the ultimate tyre for 125cc to 400cc supersport bikes. And with additional sizes for 2008 we've created a real dilemma for supermoto riders. Which tyre should they choose? The Sportmax Mutant or the GPR Alpha-10? That's a heck of a choice to have to make.
